"Checkered Hearts" review, summer show
My recent large-scale painting "Checkered Hearts" was reviewed and featured on the July 29th cover of Flagpole (the arts and culture paper here in Athens, Georgia). It takes its subject from the frozen northeastern front of World War II, where Finland and the Soviet Union fought two bitter conflicts between 1939 and 1944. The painting was in a group show at the Athens Institute of Contemporary Art. The article also interviews me and some others about the show and about making a living as an artist.
