Show at Heirloom in Athens, Georgia
Opening this Wednesday, April 6th, I will have two paintings in a group show of smaller works at Heirloom Café, the classy, locally-grown, organic eatery here in Athens, Georgia. Curated by Heirloom’s Jen Holt, we’ve titled the show Four Corners as tribute to our graduating class of 2016 MFA painters: Heather Foster, Drema Montgomery, Spence Townsend, and myself. Heather, Drema, Spence, and I have been through the same seminars, the long discussions, the critiques, the lectur

Show in Glen Echo, Maryland
"Past/Present," a reunion show at the Yellow Barn Gallery in Glen Echo, Maryland, opens November 28th and features the work of six longtime artist-friends. I remember painting along the Potomac River with Trevor Young and David Molesky when we were what, fifteen? It has been a lifetime of painting. I will show garden landscapes I painted in the lush Maryland summer, alongside experimental portraits that interweave abstract patterns and futuristic costume. Two different subjec

"Hello, Neighbor" opens at Classic Center
I have four portrait paintings on view at Classic Center in Athens, Georgia, as part of the group exhibit "Hello, Neighbor." The show was curated by painter and UGA alumna Jamie Bull, and includes some of my favorite painters here in Athens, including Michelle Fontaine and Terry Rowlett. Jamie says about the show: The four artists...are all telling stories. Some of the narratives come from a nostalgia for the past, some are derived from mythological tales, postcards from tra

It takes its subject from the frozen northeastern front of World War II, where Finland and the Soviet Union fought two bitter conflicts between 1939 and 1944. The painting was in a group show at the Athens Institute of Contemporary Art. The article also interviews me and some others about the show and about makin

Flood Redux: show in Maryland
Through May 31st, I'll have work in the three-person show Flood Redux at Strathmore Hall in Rockville, Maryland. Works in the show depict a water-infused vision of a world changed and challenged by human excess. Along with my own work — allegorical figures and birds in waterscapes — the show also features work by painters David Molesky and Arlette Jassel.
