December 2011- February 2012
The Road to Timbuktu
San Francisco International Airport
Terminal 3 near gate 76.
An exhibition of 17 sepia-colored photographs from West Africa between Cotonou, Timbuktu, and Dakar, fall 2008. You'll need a plane ticket to see the show as its past security. (United flies out of this terminal). Story of the trip is on my blog.
I was on the south coast of Sri Lanka earlier this year. I swam and snorkeled and joined a crew of Sinhalese fishermen; we saw a whale and flying fish, and I heard stories of monsoons and Somali pirates. Then I sat under the shade of a big palm tree and painted these 18 variations of an infinite theme: sky, water, light.
A more detailed story is on my blog. The framed 6x6-inch paintings were displayed at San Francisco's Norway Day Festival, and are available for $300. Contact me to arrange a purchase.
