I was on the south coast of Sri Lanka earlier this year. I swam and snorkeled and joined a crew of Sinhalese fishermen; we saw a whale and flying fish, and I heard stories of monsoons and Somali pirates. Then I sat under the shade of a big palm tree and painted these 18 variations of an infinite theme: sky, water, light.
A more detailed story is on my blog. The framed 6x6-inch paintings were displayed at San Francisco's Norway Day Festival and are for sale. Contact me to arrange a purchase.
